First Lecture

Today I realy had my first lecture in this week. I also have to admit it is also my last one for this week, because tomorrow the prof. is at holyday’s. That is also a point I do not understand. In Poland normally university starts next week. But SGH they have to start a week earlier. Ok. The students are at the university, but the prof’s they are still in holyday. So, the university starts with the students that are staying in front of their classes waiting for a prof. who is on holidays.
But to my class, we the Erasmus students are also strict kept away from the normal polish student. We have our own building, with our own library. Also we have chairs like in offices, very good ones. The polish students are in the building that is his year 100 years old. Everything is made from wood. The lectures rooms are not changed since than, they only are renovated. It looks very nice, but is a pain to sit on it for more than a half hour. I can tell, had to do it in my polish course. But to the lesson “Global Business Strategies in the European Content”, long name. It is totally different than to Germany. The class has only 20 people and we can say what we want. He showed us two books we will work with. But than he said, in the book is only the opinion of the author so if we do not like it than we can throw it away and take some other one. He will that we think in different ways. If we do not like what he is doing than we can say it and we do something else. After that he put in a Islamic prayer, after that we had Jazz Music, next time he brings us CD’s from Chopin Festival that was this year in Warsaw. Ok, you ask now what for? He just wanted to show us that most of the world doesn’t know what Business Strategy is. Many people are even afraid of it because they do not understand it, the same feeling we had with the Prayer from Iran. He has the view that Strategy is some percent rules and the rest improvisation and chaos. The same way will be his lecture. Great, that is really a difference to the lectures I had till now in Germany, I’m pretty interested how this will end. One good thing we do not have an exam, we have to do a monthly assay and in the end a 15 page work. (maybe my Eigenleistungsschein).
